How Update FlashPlugin for Opera ?

I have used Porteus v3.1 Xfce for a long time.
I've now in addition stored Opera-42.0...xzm in the folder modules.
It works well, VPN works well, but video is not supported,
Message: Adobe Flash Player is out of date
That's why I downloaded flash_player_ppapi_linux.i386.tar.gz
unzipped and and stored in
rootcopy/usr/lib/opera/plugins/libpepflashplayer.so
But it doesn't work (same message: FlashPlayer is out of date)
I need help. Thanks in advance
I'm sorry, but my English is very bad.

Hi Kulle

Until someone else can give a better advise -- ( i use Pale Moon)

I did (loop) mount the opera-42.0.2393.85-i586-1.xzm, but i don't
see a path like your "/usr/lib/opera/plugins/libpepflashplayer.so"
in "usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/opera/resources/" is a file "pepper_config.json"
with following content

"PepperFlashPaths" : [
"/usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/usr/lib/pepperflashplugin-nonfree/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/usr/lib/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/usr/lib64/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/usr/lib/chromium-browser/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/usr/lib/chromium/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/usr/lib64/chromium-browser/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/usr/lib64/chromium/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/opt/google/chrome-beta/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/opt/google/chrome-unstable/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so",
"/opt/google/chrome/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so"

It looks like a table where opera will search the plugin
so you may have to put it there or to adjust the path in the settings of opera.

Did you try USM to download a flashplayer module?

This is what I see for my 64-bit system.

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ su
Password:
root@porteus:/home/guest# usm -s flashplayer

flashplayer-plugin-11.2.202.635-x86_64-1_slonly.txz was found in slackonly [downgrade]
flashplayer-plugin-24.0.0.194-x86_64-1alien.txz was found in alien [upgrade]
flashplayer-plugin-11.2.202.635-x86_64-2sl.txz was found in slacky [downgrade]
Packages found: 3

Use: usm -i <package> for more info
Use: usm -g <package> to download

root@porteus:/home/guest#

You need to install Pepper Flash plugin. Just download this, convert it to a .xzm module and put it inside your USB stick /porteus/modules/.
