With the advent of porteus 3.2, it is time to revise the video editing software. Here are my favorites (some more to come) and some comments:
- kino
. built with usm
- simplescreenrecorder
. built with the SlackBuild:
https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/desktop/ssr/
-ffmpeg
. built with usm
.. Info:
general
https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/StreamingGuide
from mkv to mp4 conversion
http://askubuntu.com/questions/396883/h ... mkv-to-mp4
Feel free to do the same.

^ Trying SlacBuild for simplescreenrecorder not that easy. Wishing to also have audio, tried with Jack on, and it crashed as missing Jack.h file. Then without Jack:
Code: Select all
In file included from AV/FastResampler_FirFilter.h:21:0,
from AV/FastResampler_FirFilter_SSE2.cpp:20:
./Global.h:25:17: fatal error: QtGui: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.

For simplescreenrecorder (without Jack),
In the ssr.Slackbuild add --with-qt5 as an option to configure. The dependencies then needed are qt5, libinput, libxkbcommon and the not yet installed xcb*.txz packages from slackware/x series.
These may already be present in KDE5 (except for the headers).

Thanks for the info, giving rise to quite a few possibilities to try out. Faced with this, forced to try out appimage for first time, and found
https://bintray.com/probono/AppImages/S ... 2.14#files
As all are gpg signed, looked high and low for public key of whoever might be signing it, but no joy. In the end took the plunge, followed the hype, making image executable and running it. Works a treat.
Recorded a video clip and no trouble with audio of video during playback. Unfortunately only available as 64 bit.

What about
simplescreenrecorder-0.3.6-1-x64-3.2-ru-1.xzm (base on Ubuntu repo)?
But I updated simplescreenrecorder (include all deps) in summer 2016.
OpenShot Video Editor is the best for video editing

Blaze, remember seeing it in Russian section, but could not remember in which topic.
Anyway what you have is 64 bit, and appimage is 64 bit. As well appimage is latest version, being made by programmer himself.
Would like to be able to get hands on 32 bit version. Embedded video buffers in memory so cannot get hands on buffer file, then best shot is simplescreenrecorder.
Use PiTiVi for video editing, and update to latest version on my TODO list.

I am always late: ssr built sbopkg according to:
Code: Select all
https://blog.paranoidpenguin.net/2016/03/simplescreenrecorder-on-slackware-linux-with-multimedia-codecs/
Unable to do so because of the wrong ffmpeg. Usm would not download and build. The ponce package from pkgs.org does not seem to be recognized. The pleasure of building from source.
Finally, blaze has the best approach: using ubuntu or debian packages. 8)

^ Directed at me? Don't understand.
Question is whether ssr-0.3.8-x86_64-3_slonly.txz would meet your requirements.

What is the use of:
root@porteus:/home/guest# cp -p /usr/share/usm/funcpackageGet /usr/share/usm/funcpackageGet.bak
root@porteus:/home/guest# cp -p usm/funcpackageGet.hic /usr/share/usm/funcpackageGet
usm -g ssr will download an empty file.
I have to fetch it on pkgs.org.

Fact is the file can be called anything you want, but you need to get it from the bottom of this post:
http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php? ... 88c#p55562
then
Code: Select all
cp -p /usr/share/usm/funcpackageGet /usr/share/usm/funcpackageGet.bak; # Back up
cp -p /Path/to/funcpackageGet.hic /usr/share/usm/funcpackageGet
