Salutations... :good:

I'm not quite sure if the forum does polling.

In any case... I prefer EDE because...

...it's environment uses FLTK
...it's default window manager PekWM uses XCB

IMHO... Gtk/Qt is slow as molasses and Code bloat ed like an elephant (ten's of mb's instead of kb's and/or mb's) compared to FLTK / XCB .
However... graphically Gtk/Qt makes FLTK / XCB look like Windows 95 . The point is... most desktops use Gtk/Qt .

"Best Regards"...

Salutations... :good:

I had EDE running on a crude Porteus build last fall. :wall:
EDE is best built on top of 003-LXQT.xzm

Then all that is needed is to configure "out" LXQT/Openbox and configure "in" EDE/PekWM.
However... the best (and trickest) build is PekWM and Bar (by Lemonboy) w/out EDE.

The reason this is better is (aside from deprecating FLTK in favor of XCB)...
if you have a floating PekWM menu and lightweight bar... EDE is redundant.

If you add a (non Gtk/Qt) pager and system tray you pretty much have the "desktop" metaphor.

"Best Regards"...

Salutations... :good:

LXQT (Razor?) is an excellent desktop. It is what brought me to Porteus after playing wth Siduction.
However... after closer examination of most popular desktops... for me performance trumps eyecandy.

This is why I've moved on to FLTK / XCB based interfaces.

Salutations... :good:

I don't think so. However... there are global xlib/xcb utilities that can do it even compositing.

After many months of being attacked by what appears to be BadUSB I have prevailed (unfortunately... the radioactive stuff goes to "Area 51").
Today on one of my newly built boxes... I finally successfully installed my IPS and deprecated Openbox in favor of PekWM.

When I have deprecated LXQT in favor of EDE and glibc in favor of Musl I will be ready to post my derivative.

"Best Regards"...
