Title: East St.Louis Toodle-oo
Artist: Duke Ellington
East St. Louis Toodle-Oo
"East St Louis Toodle-Oo" (also "Toodle-O") is a composition written by Duke Ellington and Bubber Miley and recorded several times by Ellington for various labels from 1926–1930 under various titles. This song was the first charting single for Duke Ellington in 1927 and was one of the main examples of his early "jungle music". This composition (which entered the public domain on January 1, 2023) was covered by Steely Dan on their 1974 album Pretzel Logic.

To be more precise, it's a whole set of CDs called "Duke Ellington - 100 Anniversaire" and CD 1 is called "The Jungle Band" :)

Live concerto (already over, but for some time available in the mediathek)

https://www.br.de/radio/live/br-klassik ... 2/3455987/
To translate the info:
Munich Radio Orchestra - Gershwin Melodies

The Thilo Wolf Jazz Quartet stands for authentic, intelligent, finely structured swing, performed with passion and enthusiasm. Together with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, another specialist for cool sounds and musical border crossings, it creates the immortal "Gershwin Melodies", conducted by Enrique Ugarte, who has already celebrated several festivals with swing, jazz and blue notes at the conductor's desk of the Rundfunkorchester.

Finally managed to download the above live concert, and also used LosslessCut to cut out only the concert audio parts and leaving out the talking, including the interview during the pause.

I have no idea why the date and time stamp is so weird… the concert was on Sunday, and that date was 2023-11-11 and not 2020-11-19, oh well, whatever.
The most important part is this: the music is quite the feel good material. :Yahoo!: Image

It is amazing the good taste in music we Porteus users have! And Rava with Zepp seems like a kindred spirit!

I still rock out to a 1965 video of Van Morrison and the "Angry Young Them" in a concert in France. "Mystic Eyes" leading into the classic "Gloria". Kids going nuts. Dad is rocking out and clapping while mom is sitting straight as a stone not liking it. :) All the Pete Townshend guitar arm-swings...

Me too.

And I give you a classic, ten years later:
Led Zeppelin – No Quarter [1975/05/24 @ London, England]

23 minutes and 6 seconds - this is just one song.

and an even better live version:
Led Zeppelin No Quarter jam compilation (Mar 1975)
https://youtu.be/h8rnxt1LhW8
Duration: 03:58:17

This is not a video, it is the recorded sound with one static image - might be there exists no video recording of that very concert. (Or none of acceptable quality)
One live session that shows the great versatility of that band, in my book. Image

Best quality sound download

Code: Select all

yt-dlp -f 134 h8rnxt1LhW8
best quality thumbnail image download

Code: Select all

wget http://img.youtube.com/vi/h8rnxt1LhW8/hqdefault.jpg
(maxresdefault.jpg not available for that thumbnail)

Added in 15 minutes 57 seconds:
And neat trick:
when you rename the hqdefault.jpg to fit the sound file name - e.g. like so:

Code: Select all

$ ls --quoting-style=shell Led\ Zeppelin\ No\ Quarter\ jam*
'Led Zeppelin No Quarter jam compilation (Mar 1975) [h8rnxt1LhW8].jpg'
'Led Zeppelin No Quarter jam compilation (Mar 1975) [h8rnxt1LhW8].webm'
and play the sound file via mpv, it displays the thumbnail - and telling you this:

Code: Select all

Displaying cover art. Use --no-audio-display to prevent this.

I forgot about streaming SomaFM .com with all it's neat genres. Right now I'm on the cool Secret-Agent genre. Might switch to Groove-Salad later. Or the Drone Zone to chill out ambiently. Must be feeling beautiful and angular!
