Quantic computers; what is it?

Hearing on the news here and there since a few years that the quantic computer is coming. This event is said to be a major outbreak in the treatment of information. Some say that this will not happen before 15 years, other pretend to have produced it, namely a reseacher of Santa Barbara (émission découverte de radio-canada).

From what I have read they already have an operational computer, however the tests provided for it were not suitable. We still think in terms of binary. For the types of processing that everyday people/organizations use a computer for, your average laptop does a better job than the current quantum computer. That is, the quantum computer is no faster than your average computer. In the future, when we change the way computers compute, and our demand for information, I think they will shine.
