We may not need KOffice anyway! :)

Post#1 by agreimann » 31 May 2011, 23:27

Guys,

There's something really neat I realized--for the first time, we don't need KOffice that Slax had in it. With Flash in Porteus, and the ability of Office web apps and Google Docs to work, presentations, word documents, and spreadsheets are a snap to make. It'd be neat to keep Porteus lightweight... I never really thought of that until I test-drove Porteus 1.0 rc2 today! Anyway... just thought I'd encourage people on that... but I'm sure people have already discussed or knew that before I posted! :D

True--just trying to be optimistic, I guess. :)

Well, here's the beauty of Porteus -- If someone wants to use online only office products and they want a lighter distro, they can easily remove the KOffice module, and remaster the ISO (if running from read-only media). The best of both worlds!
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

That is the best part of Porteus right there.
