Think we have another ME?

Guys,

I've been thinking about this... and if you think about it, Porteus might have a chance at getting a little more usage share.

We all remember 98SE, then... ME (Was that Mistake or Millenium Edition?!) :D! Then, to ratify that to make it usable again, MS ships XP.

Then, what do all the Windoze XP people get after XP? Vista! :D With that said, once again, everyone gets 7. Along comes 8...

Now, let's observe this pattern: 98SE (great!), ME (bad), XP (great!), Vista (bad), 7 (great!)... and from looking at this mathematically, we can infer... :D It is hilarious to think about that. We're Linux guys, so I think it's rather fun to laugh about that! :)

You've left out Windows 2000, which I spent some time with, and would put in the mediocre category (it was more like pre-XP than a follow up to ME).

ME was absolutely terrible. I hope a lot of people got fired for that stinking pile of sh**.

I've tried Vista, and it was just OK, but didn't spend enough time in it to get really frustrated. No Win7 for me yet :( Hopefully 8 will be good...I will have to upgrade from XP...someday...

Ah... yes. 2000 Professional, which was a halfway decent Windows release, I won't include, because I really wanted to make a pattern clear here. :D Yes, that was a cool release, but 8 on the other hand... but maybe MS learned from their history. We'll see, I guess. Good thing you didn't try out 7--Aero has become a "user" UI--for a programmer, it's terrible being caged in the new Windows.

Ah... yes. I didn't even cover the pre-95 days! :D Windows 1.0, if it could even be called an operating system yet!, was one of the worst projects built. Xerox and the Macintosh had it long before MS got it right. ;)
