Which porteus version info

Post#1 by rnport » 20 May 2011, 06:06

Once I am running porteus, how do I find out which version of porteus I am running ? Will the command 'uname -a' help ?

I got the version info by 'cat /etc/porteus-version'. But I feel 'uname -a' is a more commonly used command and if version is clearly shown there, it will give a good impression.

@rnport
that would require messing up with the hostname variable. extra dot (porteus-1.0.example.net) may cause the troubles so i would stay with /etc/porteus-version instead.

thanks for suggestion.
