Remote kiosk config not accessible

Post#1 by christofer » 25 Sep 2015, 18:08

Hello.

I'm new to Porteus Kiosk and it's exactly what we need for our library environment. I've been trying to configure the remote management piece, but it's not sticking. I'm specifying the appropriate IP settings during the imaging process, it finds the remote location appropiately, and reboots after downloading the file on first boot. However, I think it's having trouble with the IP addresses being overwritten (we use static IP addressing for these computers). It gets the URL I put in, but doesn't resolve to that url.

Any help would be appreciated ... I've included a copy of my txt file below:

[[ GLOBAL ]]
kiosk_config=http://<good url>
connection=wired
browser=firefox
disable_address_bar=yes
disable_firewall=yes
homepage=http://www.ajaxlibrary.ca
browser_idle=2
scheduled_action= Monday-21:10 Tuesday-21:10 Wednesday-21:10 Thursday-21:10 Friday-19:10 Saturday-17:10 Sunday-17:10 action:halt
timezone=America/Toronto
wake_on_lan=yes

[[ xx:A9:05:F2:xx:xx ]]
network_interface=eth0
dns_server=abc.16.y.31 abc.16.y.19
default_gateway=abc.16.y.1
ip_address=abc.16.y.66
netmask=255.255.0.0

Hello christopher,

Are you going to manage only one kiosk through this config or more?
If one then there is no need for GLOBAL and PCID sections and you can use the same config which is displayed in the wizard.

If more kiosks then please send me your config file (I need a file rather than its content) on support@porteus-kiosk.org and I'll check if its formatted and encoded correctly.

Thank you.
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.
