FAA - fbreader 0.12 vs 0.99 weird results

https://fbreader.org/content/fbreader-b ... ux-desktop says, the current Linux x86-64 version is the 0.99.4 one.
Still, via usm or http://pkgs.org/ a search gets me half resulting in 0.99.4 and the other half of results is 0.12.10
Trying to evaluate why that is only gave me this result: Okay, usm only gave me 3 results, and pkgs gave me almost 20, but for 32 and 64 bit, and with other Linux variants but Slackware it is the same weird circus)

At least to my brain, 0.99 appears to be quite more recent compared to 0.12...

Does anyone understand why there are such huge differences in version numbers when it comes to that program?
Alien Bob and Salix, Slackel have only the 0.99 versions, all others including Ponce only the 0.22 versions.

What the FAQ is that? :%) I don't get it!

Okay, the above links says it's fbreader 0.99.4 beta and 0.88.5 is alpha, but the 0.99.4 beta is from 2012, that's 3 years ago. With no changes in freaking 3 years I consider a program to no longer be beta, when the programmer is still working on it, and I presume (s)he does.
Cheers!
