POV Linux/Open Source - The Drunk Man
Posted: 14 Apr 2011, 18:48
I was arguing with my boss the other day about different OSes. I told him I felt linux and other open source projects, start out as this dude. Who says wouldn't it be great if we could, if I could, if any one could get "name the blank". So they embark on this journey. A really plastered drunk dude filled with dreams(aka tons of ideas/functionality desired). So he declares he is gona go home(aka work on completing his project). Stumbles out the bar (trying to gain footing). And eventually with enough determination he is able to sober up and walk strait (finally producing some usefulness and little stumble here and there). A functioning strong productive/entertaining idea. I don't know if he ever makes it home.
Quite a few of them call friends to help them stand, learn to walk, learn to communicate. Some come to dress him up funny, sexy, light, dark. As long as those friends keep coming together. I feel they achieve greatness.
Summary: Linux/Open-Source + Friends = Greatest OS ever.
That is what I love most about linux is the community.
