Post#1 by wread » 29 Apr 2014, 10:58

@all

I read in the newspaper of today Nokia has been sold to Microsoft.....Look out! :shock:

Nokia bought Trolltech some time ago, so Qt is now Microsoft!!! :crazy:

What will become now KDE????? :%)

RFC
Porteus is proud of the FASTEST KDE ever made.....(take akonadi, nepomuk and soprano out and you will have a decent OS).

Hearing that makes me sick. And I "was" so looking forward to LxQt.

I was an OpenSUSE user until Novel started dealing with Microsoft, dropped like a hot potato and went with Debian.

Hopefully Porteus can live on with Openbox perhaps by itself.

Qt was sold to Digia which does great job with new releases. no need to panic.

Aaah, here is the thread. I was waiting for it. Yes Digia bought open source Qt back in 2012 (got a nice deal) and it will remain open source. I saw this takeover coming when Nokia started shipping phones with MS and the phones started appearing in TV series and movies. They have been working together for some time now. I like win8 for cell phones. Mine has not had any problems in any case.

Phheeewww!

Thanks, fanthom & brokenman, for setting this straight. I had been saying bad words for over an hour, and my mom was threatening to wash my mouth out with soap :-(

Feeling much better now :-)

@freestyler,

You must be die-hard anti-microsoft also. Me too! Never used it. Only DOS, OS/2, and Linux.

Ga-Day to ya !

Sean

PS - Glad to hear the you KDE fella's won't be affected either. We're all happy.

Nice one sean :)
Yeah I'm anti-microsoft/mac/google/evil corporations/government, Im not enrolled to vote, I don't pay tax, don't have a bank account or a residential address. Technically Ive been homeless for about 9 years (I live in hotels and girlfriends houses).
I do have an Australian birth certificate, passport, a mullet haircut, a drivers license registered to an address that doesn't exist (recently got suspended for 2 years) and a pre-paid mobile number that I throw away every time I go to a different country (never more than 6 months). In the last 9 years Ive only seen one winter and that's only because I never experienced snow before and wanted to see it :)
In short... Yeah I'm anti-microsoft

Wow. Pretty impressive. It's difficult to blend in to the population and evade the authoritarian regime. I'm guessing you don't have a facebook account. Anonymity is almost impossible these days .... especially with a mullet.

:lol: Damn i laughed so hard when I read that, my beer came out through my nose! This guy is a true blue occa. My hat off to ya.

So, sorry, but I was not aware of what a mullet haircut was, had to google it. And low and behold, there's your avatar :-) If that ain't "cool", I don't know what is :-)

Freestyler, I do envy your anonymous lifestyle, please write a "How To" book. Seriously.

In the meantime, let us leave brokenman off the hook with his Nokia (MS) cell phone thingy, he's a great guy on his own. I don't have a cell phone myself. Big fear of being a locked in drone target :-) I'm waiting here in the US for the first official conviction of a felonious use of a drone in a crime. I think I could hold my breath with no worries, it's gonna happen soon enough.

I'm really glad to see this thread lost it's sting, so to speak, became fun instead of fearful, and happy that Qt is not associated with the dasterdly MS.

Have a Great Day all,

Sean

@wread: Now that would be funny
