Oh yeah. I can now print from Porteus. :Yahoo!:
+1

But my printer Canon IP1500 (10IG8I) does not work in Porteus 2.1 with the module 07-printing.xzm
I have done the module pstocanonbj_3.3.orig_x86_64.xzm from this source pstocanonbj_3.3.orig.tar.gz.

I tweak configure file of this source for x86_64 architecture

Find

Code: Select all

ac_default_prefix=/usr/local
Replace with

Code: Select all

ac_default_prefix=/usr
Find

Code: Select all

libdir='${exec_prefix}/lib'
Replace with

Code: Select all

libdir='${exec_prefix}/lib64'
run ./configure and compiled it with make & make install
but it does not help me :D :ROFL:

When I print, I get this error:

Code: Select all

stopped
"child process aborted"

Please, add support for my printer Canon IP1500. Thanks.

@blaze:
Did you tried the ppd with system-config-printer? Here is the Canon-PIXMA-iP5000.ppd:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/g04jb ... iP5000.ppd

Put the ppd in etc/cups/ppd/

With printing module:

Hi!

Image One more question, would it be possible add a Graphical User Interface (Gufw, Firestarter...), in the firewall, to next version of Porteus?

Thanks!

Cheers! Image

fanthom wrote:As you probably know Porteus-3.0 is approaching (Slackware-14.1 was released few days ago) and it's also Christmas time so if you have any special wish regarding new release please post it here.
It could be anything (ofc request like 'please change KDE4 maintainer' will be rejected) so please tell us what would you like to change/improve/add/remove in the the next release.

Thanks guys.
I just caught the joke right now. We do not want to change the kde4 maintainer, but we would appreciate if dracurella would accept to join the contributor team. :D

But more seriously, now that Christmas is at our door, what can we expect in the great lines for porteus 3.0? 8)

If Santa carries Porteus on his back he will be lucky to fit down the chimney with all these requests! I very much like some of them though.

Seasons Greetings!

Two non-critical BUT very newbie attracting requests:

1. Include or adapt Porteus for "wmctrl" to create multiple desktop-specific wallpapers and such with.

2. Might be a tall order but would definitely entice Puppy users (at least) to migrate to Porteus: I keep all my work and personal files in /mnt/home/Documents (even OpenOffice's backup cache) so they'd all be accessible even in Macs and Windows and CopyAgent and not be included in sfs memory which is constantly eaten away in Puppy. If one can "simply" copy their Puppy Documents folder into a clean Porteus install it'd by-pass re-creating a lot of configurations to tie-in docs and files with their apps (wish this was possible with SeaMonkey -- totally putting it in Documents than locking it up in the sfs file). Hope what I said makes sense!

This is a very good suggestion. From cups 1.6, printing is based on pdf only. It should make printing a very much simplified task. At least I hope so. :twisted:
