Porteus desktop going up from 103 rank to 79 in just one day on distrowatch. And porteus kiosk going up too at the 114th rank. It seems that porteus 4.0 was expected by the masses.
:D

And annoucement of porteus rc4 by Jay Flood on distrowatch:

We have awoken a sleeping giant! :Yahoo!: Hope people do take it for a spin and report back what they like/dislike so ``this little distro that could'' even becomes better than what it is!

@ncmprhnsbl, thanks! :)

Highlights of the video:

1- people in the real-time comments seem to like Porteus in general
2- the video guy loves the browser update/install GUI
3- a guy in the real-time comments said he loves the Openbox version

Unfurtunately the video guy thought there was limitations because he was running a live session inside a VBox machine. Oh, god...! Porteus is a live distro! :teehee: No word about it, no word about the unbelievable ISO size, performance, RAM consumption, etc.

This is not the first time I see people that don't know what Porteus is all about. They see it as yet another Linux distro :(

Trying out ver 4.0 of the XFCE flavor, and am impressed with its speed, and selection of apps. Have not yet gotten into any major software additions outside of picking a browser (Palemoon), so will be honest that I can not really comment on the Slackware core implementaion, just the XFCE implementation and overall impression of the project. Modules work great (just like I remember Slax from years back).

Sounds like we could use that quote for Wikipedia. Or are there better suited ones for 4.0?

Aside from the horrible typos in the quoted Part. Sadly these makes it unsuitable for the use on Wikipedia. Hopefully the Review Author corrected the typos.

Edit it is not a review as I thought just a user comment. Not usable for Wikipedia.

The next User comment is a Bad one. On Android I cannot Quote it since I cannot select Text from a non edit field. .. I mean the one complaining about the bad installer. He/She should join the Forums and give us more Info about the issue.

Reason: Typo due to Android autocorrect.

Anyhow just looked through this
List of Linux distributions that run from RAM

RAM needed only says 512 MB.
I think that needs to bei changed to a from-to Form like they did with Independent.

Does anyone have a quotable forum post that lists the toram needed RAM for every available Version for 4.0?

Then I could change the Wikipedia article into a MinimumRAM - maximumRAM Info.
Cheers!
