Hi,
I have this problem where the transfer over samba from Porteus to a Windows 7 Home PC is getting slower and slower. Speed reduced from 30 over megs to less than 1 megs at time.
Pls see screen shot here:-

FYI I am transferring movie file with size ranging from 500MB to 2GB plus one at a time.

Re: Transfer Over Samba Getting Slower and Slower
hi cttan,
KDE tools may not be accurate, i think KDE is buffering in RAM first which is fast and then sending to destination device/folder which is slower. please copy some large file with 'mc' (in cli) and check if transfer also goes down with time.
'mc' should show the real transfer speed.

Re: Transfer Over Samba Getting Slower and Slower
Hi fanthom,
It seems like it is KDE problem. It I use MC, the transfer speed is more stable.
I noticed that the it is happening to local copy between disk to thumb drive as well. So it is not a Samba issue.
