First step to Virtual Reality

Post#1 by brokenman » 19 Jan 2013, 19:13

I remember being a child and dreaming about a true virtual reality. Like the ones we see on TV. Technology was moving incredibly fast and many promises of VR were made ... but it just never happened. We saw touchscreens, small gaming devices, biometric games but no freaking VR!!

Well get yourselves ready. According to all reviews, this is the shizzle!

I remember the science fiction Star Trek with Spock"Leonard Nimoy" and he would say "beam me up Scotty". Also the Matrix movies, where they would answer a phone and be moved from place to place. Sadly and more factually there are two versions of us, the real person that works and pays taxes and there is a "virtual" version of us. Sadly our human form has no way to survive for eternity, only our virtual us can live forever. Even president Obama used a Social Security number from a person that was born in 1890. It is out there one can google it. Imagine if we could create an image of ourselves, then something happens to us and we die in an 18 wheeler crash. We use open source software and rewite our image and we could come back as our true self and with a conditional to avoid the fatal day so it would never happen again!

Some thoughts to ponder.

Cheers!

In psychotherapy, these devices have been used to treat phobias and even schizophrenia:
