xfce fine tuning: questions and answers

Post#1 by francois » 27 Dec 2012, 15:44

I have played around with xfce desktop, but it seems not enough. This would be a good thread to ask for questions and get answer on this good looking desktop.

Here is a first question:
Where is the screensaver settings in xfce porteus? I do not find it, this thread does not have the answer:

You may need to install xscreensaver. I included it in the 32bit edition Razor. I am downloading 32bit XFCE version so not sure if it made the package list.
How do i become super user?

Xcreensaver is not included with the default xfce iso. It uses monitor blanking for power saving and slock for screen locking. I found xscreensaver to be too large and not very pretty given that it is not necessary. If users really want to have it included by default, I can pull it in for future releases.

My question in the first post is still valuable. Is there any screensaver in xfce?

There is no screensaver included in the xfce iso's. I think xfce4-screensaver-settings is a gui configuration tool for xscreensaver, and it would still require xscreensaver, so that package is not included, either. They could be added by the user.
