In the slackdce repository, we have additional desktop environments compiled that are not included in the official Slackware distribution. Taking advantage of this, we are developing a Live image with installation options, persistent storage support, and the ability to run entirely from RAM.
This image is based on Slackware 15.0, 64-bit, and includes GNOME Shell 41.9. While this GNOME version is older, it can be compiled using Slackware's original toolchain, resulting in a fast desktop experience with lower RAM usage.
As mentioned, the ISO includes everything from the official Slackware. With persistence enabled, it’s possible to compile modules like the proprietary NVIDIA driver directly from the .run installer.
The ISO also includes LibreOffice and is multi-language, allowing language selection at boot. It comes with a graphical GTK-based package manager (Gslapt) that handles dependencies using the slackdce repository.
It features a simple text-based installer for easy setup.
The project is still in development and will be distributed via torrent once it's ready.
