Fixed time

My Clock is set to EST. When I get mail the time stamp is 5 hours off. I receive a message (mail) and the time was 7:44 but it was time stamp 12:44 5 hours later then my system clock. Can the system clock and receive mail time be fixed to be the same?
This is been doing this for a long time now but now how can I fixed it if I can.

TTBOMK Jack the time an email is sent is based on the sender's machine's clock, not yours. The difference is more noticable with friends in Europe and Asis.

Email: Message header
Date: The local time and date the message was written. Like the From: field, many email clients fill this in automatically before sending. The recipient's client may display the time in the format and time zone local to them.
(bold highlighting by me; as you see the wikipedia text says "client
may display" not "client must display")
It is up to the setting of your email program to know how to properly display the date: entry.
Like in a recent example, sent from outside my own time zone, from an UK newspaper, and
thus the time zone from the sender is UTF:

displayed by my email program like so:
because 05:09 UTC is 06:09 my time zone.
