@benjibasson,

I'm a bit confused.

Is Porteus causing your Ubuntu install to run fsck when you boot it after using Porteus? I see you use the "noauto" cheatcode, so the Ubuntu partition shouldn't be mounted after booting Porteus. I don't see anything in the Ubuntu log that say's fsck is fixing anything.

@blaze, all is all right for setting

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest# sysctl -a | grep congestion
net.ipv4.tcp_allowed_congestion_control = reno cubic bbr
net.ipv4.tcp_available_congestion_control = reno cubic bbr
net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control = bbr
unfortunaly bbr doesn't increase the rate :wall:

Code: Select all

I have to change mobile's operator for this VPN

I don't know if porteus do this but some time when I boot arch or Ubuntu after porteus it ran fsck.

Here arch booted directly without fsck but Ubuntu do it. (Arch and Porteus are in the same partitions).

In the pastebin log: can you see why Ubuntu launched fsck?

I see no reason why fsck was launched, only that it checked /dev/sda1 on line 968 and /dev/sda5 0n line 972 but not that anything was done. I have other partitions that I mount when using Porteus, then unmount before I shut down. If I forget to unmount them, there's never problems with ext4, but the Fat32 EFI partition will be affected. That seems normal for Fat32, it seems always to give problems with corruption anyway.

The fsck message you see with Porteus is coming from the /mnt/live/cleanup script. It's run whenever you shutdown or reboot the machine and it's more an advisory than a sign that there are problems.

I would boot Porteus, mount the Ubuntu partition then unmount it and reboot Porteus without the fsck cheatcode. Then run fsck as root on the Ubuntu partition from a terminal:

Code: Select all

su
toor
fsck /dev/sda#
and see if it shows anything. The partition will be unmounted as you use the noauto cheatcode. I don't use Ubuntu, but maybe it runs fsck as a normal thing when it's booted?

can you test it on the kernel 6.3.7 after fsck cheatcode?

Durring restart above message apears again (please use 'fsck' cheatcode during next boot)

On startup with "fsck" cheatcode, check is performed with following message:

Code: Select all

System was not cleanly unmounted, check forced.
System:  2944/30326784 files (8.8% non-contiguous), ...
If that matters:
Porteus 5.0 - kernel 6.3.7 with latest core updates (001-core, 002-xorg, 003-kde5, initrd.xz)

how to enable BBR?

Post#23 by Blaze » 11 Jun 2023, 14:53

AcnapyxoB, in dmesg I have only this warning:

Code: Select all

# dmesg | egrep -i 'fs|fail|error|warn|found|mount|system'
[    0.940983] EXT4-fs (nvme0n1p1): mounting ext2 file system using the ext4 subsystem
[    0.943467] EXT4-fs (nvme0n1p1): warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck is recommended
[    0.948811] EXT4-fs (nvme0n1p1): mounted filesystem 21a23436-0c35-478f-80ca-fad028ffbbde without journal. Quota mode: disabled.
and not bad if we move to this topic fsck on startup => recovering journal (Пост benjibasson #94387)
