OK...MediaFire cleared back up and got the file. No luck tho in Always Fresh section at all. That looks like the same Linux driver from Canon that I had...tho I never tried it under Always Ready. Thanks tho!beny wrote: ↑28 Nov 2022, 00:36https://www.mediafire.com/file/g2k5psgg ... 4.xzm/file seem that work try it

Karmi, do you use system-config-printer for setup printer?
Do you try another driver for MF3010 in system-config-printer?

Not if that is a Porteus file. All I have done w/ any settings is after the printer is added - I then add a couple check-marks that are suggested to add in the Server Print Settings, i.e., Publish shared printers connected to this system & enable debugging.

hi Karmi but you have run this bin?/mnt/live/memory/images/cnrdrvcups-ufr2-us-5.60-1.03.x86_64.xzm/usr/bin/cnsetuputil2 that make a setup of your primter maybe... if you start the cups daemon the ppd of your printer is in start a setup and i don't know if work or not i have a brother but the window of canon printer setup utilities is on screen ready to enter your data.

Hi beny. Blaze just mentioned something about using a system-config-printer, and that is way above my 'Plug & Play' experience wid printers, especially after reading what forum member francois says about it!?! Now something about the bin.
I appreciate the help, but would never add this printer to my main Porteus 5 Cinnamon drive if it requires much more than 'Plug & Play' of a driver (like it did on Fedora, Mint & Sparky tests), and maybe some simple editing of a cfg file. Don't mind doing tests on the Porteus testing USB tho, but am about to give up on this printer working wid Porteus. I use Porteus as my main working Linux OS, but all my actual printing gets done from the main Win11 Pro machine.
Have done a clean install on the test USB, and will wait to see what Blaze suggests at this point...Thanks!

UPDATE: Also, you have more to do than waste your time on this one printer. Your latest module was very close, but maybe the printer/scanner combo is an issue wid it for Linux because of the scanner. I don't really need this printer working on Porteus, so no biggie if it doesn't work.

Canon imageCLASS MF3010 VP [SOLVED]
1) Did you try to print from LibreOffice (is better way) or any notepad (not pages from web browser)?
2) Do you have latest updates from Porteus Settings Centre -> Update Porteus (you can get it from this place)?
If you are using usb, plug your switched on device into your machine and then open http://localhost:631 and go "Administration" and then "Add Printer". Enter "root" for the username and the root password. Your usb device should be shown on the list and start with "usb://". Select it and follow the dialogs through picking the correct driver for your device.
Try to print. Then open a terminal and run:

Canon imageCLASS MF3010 VP [SOLVED]
This is probably too technical for me, e.g., I don't understand what the "http://localhost:631" is or where it is. Had to experiment by adding it to a url setting in the print app...something like that. However, that method led to a different setup this time where I selected Canon for printer, and then went to a long list of drivers where there was a "MF3010" driver that was "recommended."Blaze wrote: ↑29 Nov 2022, 08:471) Did you try to print from LibreOffice (is better way) or any notepad (not pages from web browser)?

I never saw the "usb://" that you mentioned.
Then I - Typed in:
su
toor
lpstat -t
Got this:
Code: Select all
guest@porteus:~$ su
toor
lpstat -t
egrep "error|backend" /var/log/cups/error_log
