Don't give up Karmi. Blaze loves a challenge and definitely wants to solve your Canon printer problem. He is the king of Porteus print drivers.

Well, I'm at least done wid that "Always Fresh" mode 'n its never ending Authenticate pops & password demands! If he wants to continue the "challenge" then it will be w/ me in the root section only! ROOT ONLY!!! If I wanted to see lots of Authenticate popups, then I'd dump Porteus & Fedora Cinnamon's & go back to using Ubuntu.

This Linux driver package includes code components that were not written by Canon USA or its affiliates. In addition, Linux exists in many different versions, and the driver cannot be tested against all of them. Thus, Canon USA is not able to provide a support program for this driver software.

Blaze from me:

Apparently, Fedora & Ubuntu used that tar.gz 'WhAtEvEr' to create drivers that work on my Fedora 37 Cinnamon SPIN 'n SparkyLinux 6.4 Cinnamon. They also probably had the actual printer in front of them. You may have already created a driver that works, but I may have some of the non 'Plug & Play' setting wrong. If you want to continue, then I will test your xzm module in the root section only...no more Authenticate popups for me - none nada zip zero!

Thanks Blaze...incredible effort on your part...incredible! I checked out that link 'n is just to advanced for me. Heck, "allend" doesn't like USB printers so he & I wouldn't get along anyway. Then "allend" suggests:

Change the LogLevel to "debug" in /etc/cups/cupsd/conf, restart CUPs with '/etc/rc.d/rc.cups restart' and retry printing.

Yeah, right. I like USB printers to plug in 'n start printing...maybe have to add a driver. Let's call it quits on Porteus & this printer for now.

Started my new project the other day, and already have loads of splinters & cuts on my fingers & hands. My back is tired. Just found out that I need a stick or board or something to help me even get up from the ground. Am adding board and batten siding to my old 'hut' after cutting off the rotten old siding along the bottom...using pressure treated fence pickets (4" x 6' & 6" x 8') that I saved a few years ago for this project. Front has been fixed, covered wid tar paper, and started adding boards 'n batts today. Small house I build in 2009, but plenty big for me, and I need to get caught up on the maintenance.

That will hurt less than getting more splinters and cuts on your fingers and may be more rewarding at the end of the day.

Have never had any luck trying to use that cups 'Thingie, but may give it another try in a day or so. Will probably try your new updated xzm printer module sooner tho. Will update if I have any success wid either...

That new module didn't work in Always Ready section.

CUPS - I had better luck wid CUPS on another Distro years ago (maybe Ubuntu??). Got an error message wid this command line you had:

Just didn't know what to do wid CUPS, and this was my last attempt at even trying.

In my build I removed these stuff, coz Canon Printer Setup Utility 2 is not have localization and we have system-config-printer application for printing setup

Karmi, as beny said you can try to convert and activate cnrdrvcups-ufr2-uk-5.60-1.08-x86_64-1bl.txz and run via terminal

No cups for me ... w/o cups Linux might have a billion desktop/laptop Windows users using Linux. OK, there is officially no Porteus driver for this printer, which is fine by me since I would only be testing the driver anyway, i.e., I do all printing from Win11 Pro.
