There was a problem
Look here:
The .Trash-1000 folder cannot be removed

But now it has gotten really bad:

Error mounting system-managed device /dev/sdc1 ; cant read superblock on /dev/sdc1
And therefore: no booting

I need urgent help

On the USB device is my Porteus 5.0
and lots of additional software.
I absolutely have to save them

Thanks

Maybe your usb flash drive has reached the write cycles limit

start a filesystem check with gparted or fsck you have to use fdisk -l to know yours devices number, btw if the device is read-only also in gparted you can't do nothing, the device due to an improper action it save itself with the read-only action

well a lot of error, choose the number:1 and when apply the changes: yes,i hope this can solve the issue....
or you can if you have, run this command:dosfsck -r /dev/sdc1 but i think show the same error, and follow the above step when you have the command screen,

choose the number:1
Interesting. I would recommend the number 2 option.

If he could boot with the drive I would agree but he can't.

He says the files are important so hopefully they are important enough to have backups available. :)

Hi all,
USB is Fat32
And Fat32 has a superblock?
The files are very important to me.
Unfortunately I don't have any backups.
I am a newbie
I thought nothing bad could happen with Porteus.
And now the catastrophe.

Should I first make a copy to another USB (with dd)
And then run fsck on the copy ?

Does anyone have experience with testdisk and Photorec?

Thanks

well the filesystem is corrupted, roro you have done the step to clean the fat32 system or not if you don't testdisk or ddrescue you have to save the data into another hard disk you can't use the same device to store data
