Hi all,
Printer problems in Porteus 5.0 Xfce
I have set up the printer (HP Photosmart 5510) in the same way as in Porteus 4.0
The lp -d HP5510 test.pdf command is executed correctly
But I can't print from mousepad, evince, browser chromium etc
This is inexplicable to me
I need the help of the experts

I also had exactly the same problem.
For me I found the following solution:
In the module 002-xorg.xzm, there is the package gtk3-classic-3.24.33-x86_64-1ncm,
there is missing the file /usr/lib64/gtk-3.0/3.0.0/printbackends/libprintbackend-cups.so.
I added it from the current package gtk+3 via rootcopy.
Of course you can also copy the file into the corresponding
module, or replace the whole package gtk+3.

That means: the module 002-xorg.xzm is incomplete.
That should be added to dl.porteus.org as soon as possible

Hi Kulle,
I have tested porteus 5.0 with the modules 07-printing-x86_64-2022-07-02.xzm and
07-printing-lxde-lxqt-openbox-xfce-x86_64-2022-04-09.xzm.
In Mousepad, for example, the printer was not listed in the file menu under print, only print to file and print to pdf.
Printing with lp was also possible.
After copying the said file and a restart !!! the printer was there in the print menu and my problem was solved.
Unfortunately, I can not say more about it.

Hi Blaze,
I have now added the file /usr/lib64/gtk-3.0/3.0.0/printbackends/libprintbackend-cups.so
And I reinstalled the printer again
access_logs ==>all succsessful
error_logs ==> Bad driver
What should I do?

About bad driver in error_logs - don't worry these drivers for Samsung printers - more info is here

Open Porteus Settings Centre (password toor) > hit on Porteus Updater - get updates and reboot your system.
Check print from Mousepad or any website. I have checked and all works fine.

We can not continue.
I find putting updates in my extramod= folder works fine with booting ISOs.
And I also know how to update ISOs if needed. A different msg would be better for us ISO booters. Something like:

I did the update and rebooted the computer.
The printer is addressed (by mousepad chromium etc.)
But he prints weird stuff, lots of weird special characters (Shown here by dots):

The modules are numbered 01-core ... 07-printing ...009-chromium-profile
and are loaded in sequence.
I rarely have to print anything
Can I move the 07-printing modules to the optional folder
and activate only when necessary?
Or can that cause problems?

hi no is ok if you move it on optional,you can activate it on demand inside the optional directory
