what's "Gnome Boxes"?

so.. some sort of virtual machine manager ... seemingly using qemu..
to answer your question: since porteus can be run/installed on other virtual machines(eg. virtualbox), i don't see why not...

Yeah that's it, your link. I haven't explored it well to the point of making it really work but i managed to boot the porteus iso, run gparted to prepare the partition and then install it to the created partition (installed bootloader) using porteus installer from settings. Before rebooting i removed the iso from Boxes' settings, shut it down and then that's it, failed on reboot.
