[HOWTO] get special characters not on your keyboard via Shift+Ctrl+U+"X"+number hack
Hold shift hold ctrl press e.g. u then a then 1 (release the "1" key) then release shift and ctrl keys, what you typed gets transformed into the below characters.
(shift+ctrl)+
ua1 to ua9: ¡¢£¤¥¦§¨©
ub1 to ub9: ±²³´µ¶·¸¹
uc1 to uc9: ÁÂÃÄÅÆÇÈÉ
ud1 to ud9: ÑÒÓÔÕÖ×ØÙ
ue1 to ue9: áâãäåæçèé
uf1 to uf9: ñòóôõö÷øù
As you can see, that way you could get the £ (Pound) and ¥ (Yen) but no € (Euro) character.
ROFLCOPER massive middle finger towards the Euronen currency much?
EDIT / UPDATE
Thanks to burdi01's post below, here the info on how to get the €uronen character:
Ctrl+Shift+U > 20ac > Space or Enter ⇢ €
Is seems to go only from ua1 to uf9 since there is no such transformation function for ug1.

Difference: Done it your way you have to type [Enter] at the end of the code to get the transformation. There will be no [New Line] character inserted into the text.
Done it my way you have to release the Shift + Ctrl keys to get the transformation, no [Enter] needed.
Thanks for the URL to utf8-unicode-hex-values-and-x-compose-key-shortcuts.txt.html

Seems one can play for hours trying any kind of code.
Your way works as well.

[HOWTO] get special characters not on your keyboard via Shift+Ctrl+U+"X"+number hack
Just found this thread, wanted to add this website -- https://copypastecharacter.com/
It seems like cheating without the cool keyboard-fu y'all use but I make a text file and also entries in CopyQ clipboard to expedite things. Also grab anything else I can find and stick it in there.

it's interesting as it gives you the html code when you click on one of the special character icon.Vic wrote: ↑27 Dec 2022, 08:45Just found this thread, wanted to add this website -- https://copypastecharacter.com/

when you press "Shift" then you always type a "U", or not?
Therefore
Code: Select all
Ctrl+Shift+U+B+0
Code: Select all
Ctrl+Shift+u+b+0
Cheers!

Do you know why it is possible to use a different code when already pressed and released ctrl + shift + u, or another code when not released the ctrl + shift?
The kinda ironic weird thing is, when I type the above code for ° (not that I need it cause it's part of a "Generic 105 key German (no dead keys)" layout anyway) this get typed prior me releasing the Ctrl+Shift and it turning into °:
as in : small u
large B
zero
Can anyone explain this?
When shift is pressed, why is "u" printed as small u, but b printed as large B?
Is it because all these keyboard hacks all start with, as the subject tells us, Shift+Ctrl+U? Does the keyboard driver behind all this recognized that?
