Scribus 1.5.5 AppImage is working for me.

For some reason I cannot edit first post, so I include it here.

there was a time limit placed on editing posts a while back due to a user abusing the privilege..
added the scribus link to the first post for you.

Thanks!

Recently I had to change the email account. I think it has to be related with this. I can't see the "pencil" icon in some of my posts.

Unlikely. Your original posting is older than 30 days.

You can find more Appimages on:
Yes I'm aware of that, but I've found many of them obsolete or not well maintained at all.

As I stated in the first post, I prefer to get the package from the very source, if exists.

Cheers!

I agree, but both sites provide links to the developers' sites. And yes - some Appimages there are outdated and it's always good to check the developer site for newer versions, but, overall, it's a good place to get an idea what's available in Appimage format. ;)

The two I would definitely add to your collection are:

OnlyOffice - https://www.onlyoffice.com/download-desktop.aspx

LOVE - https://love2d.org/

Alright, but in the AppImageKit link, there's the explanation and then there's a link to the AppImageHub, which should suffice as introduction.

I wouldn't hesitate to include those links, but sadly, it seems I can't edit the first post anymore.

:sorry:

Blender Grab your version
Anyone aiming for the last stable version (2.80) of Blender can build it like this:
(Example valid on x64 architecture)

Download current stable version from Blender and extract it:

Code: Select all

wget https://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.80/blender-2.80-linux-glibc217-x86_64.tar.bz2
tar xjf blender-2.80-linux-glibc217-x86_64.tar.bz2 --one-top-level=squashfs-root/usr
mv squashfs-root/usr/blender-2.80-linux-glibc217-x86_64 squashfs-root/usr/bin
cp squashfs-root/usr/bin/blender.desktop squashfs-root
cp squashfs-root/usr/bin/blender.svg squashfs-root
cd squashfs-root && ln -s blender.svg .DirIcon && cd ..
Download AppRun:

Code: Select all

wget -O squashfs-root/AppRun https://github.com/AppImage/AppImageKit/releases/download/continuous/AppRun-x86_64 && chmod +x squashfs-root/AppRun
Download appimagetool, and build AppImage (2Mb)

Code: Select all

wget https://github.com/AppImage/AppImageKit/releases/download/continuous/appimagetool-x86_64.AppImage && chmod +x appimagetool-x86_64.AppImage
./appimagetool-x86_64.AppImage squashfs-root
Edited & verified.

OnlyOffice
Thanks for the links :)

OnlyOffice is not working for me.

Code: Select all

./DesktopEditors: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libhogweed.so.5: undefined symbol: __gmpn_cnd_sub_n
Had to extract it, and then repackage it removing the offending library (libhogweed). Then it works ok.

:good:

Nice thread! I like using appimages, they're quite convenient when using a portable OS. I'd like to add a couple I find really useful:
1. - Cerebro: If I have to describe it, it's like having krunner in XFCE - where I use it - but without all of the kde stuff. Get it from here https://cerebroapp.com

2. - Kate: I guess you all probably know this excellent text editor. Get it from here https://kate-editor.org/get-it/

3. - Udeler: download courses from Udemy. Get it from here https://github.com/FaisalUmair/udemy-do ... tag/v1.7.0

4. - Winds: RSS reader & podcast player with a handy set of features. Get it from here https://getstream.io/winds/
