Try and let me know how it went for you.
Thanks for the feedback Tolkiem :)

I've tried with no luck.

I need to invest more time on this because it really interest me.

I guess I should investigate the pocket version :hmmm:

Looking at your screenshot...I see the .tar.gz and gz extension.
don't they have to be extracted?.

You need to extract the tar.gz files to "cmu-folder" first, you didn't and that's why it's not working for you. Launch a terminal and run

Code: Select all

tar zvf cmusphinx-en-us-ptm-5.2.tar.gz /path/to/cmu-models
Then try again, it should work this time. BTW, I found out that using this cmusphinx-en-us-ptm-5.2.tar.gz model which is a bit smaller than the other one, helps in speeding up the process. Download from here https://sourceforge.net/projects/cmusph ... z/download extract it to "cmu-models" folder and replace the previous one.

I got confused. I think I should be degraded to some "Medium Copy-paster" level (at best) :D

I've tried (with several cmu-models) and now the process it's working. However, it seems I've got a hidden hummingbird living with me... :)

Lossless-cut

The swiss army knife of lossless video/audio editing

LosslessCut aims to be the ultimate cross platform ffmpeg GUI for extremely fast and lossless operations on video, audio, subtitle and other related media files. The main feature is lossless trimming and cutting of video and audio files, which is great for saving space by rough-cutting your large video files taken from a video camera, GoPro, drone, etc. It lets you quickly extract the good parts from your videos and discard many gigabytes of data without doing a slow re-encode and thereby losing quality. Or you can add a music or subtitle track to your video without needing to encode. Everything is extremely fast because it does an almost direct data copy, fueled by the awesome ffmpeg which does all the grunt work.

You still need to extract en-70k-0.2-pruned.lm.gz too. You should end up with something like this:
Image
The swiss army knife of lossless video/audio editing
I used it to cut the video for trying the "speech recognition" feature on SC, works like a charm. By the way, in my set up, cutting the video to 30s did help speeding up the process. Then I tried cutting to 1min and doesn't seem to be any difference between using a 30s and a 1min clip; process takes pretty much the same time. I'll try next with 90s and see how that goes, BTW, I'm using this model cmusphinx-en-us-ptm-5.2.tar.gz and like I said before it makes the process a little faster.

sounds great but…
https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut/re ... ag/v3.30.0
LosslessCut-linux.AppImage 131 MB
131 MB is a bit much.

I presume its because it ships with ffmpeg and all needed libraries for the myriads of video, audio and subtitle file formats ffmpeg supports.

I think creating a minimal module that uses all available system libraries for 5.0rc2 and only carries missing ones will slim down a planed LosslessCut-_x86-64.xzm considerably.

Added in 9 hours 53 minutes 13 seconds:
Update

Tested LosslessCut-linux-3.30.0.AppImage (renamed the AppImage to include the version number)
Interesting info at startup
guest@porteus:/what/ever$ ./LosslessCut-linux-3.30.0.AppImage
(electron) The default value of app.allowRendererProcessReuse is deprecated, it is currently "false". It will change to be "true" in Electron 9. For more information please check https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/18397
Current version 3.30.0
Newest version 3.30.0
Anyhow, for simple cut and save it is much quicker finished from loading to saving than any avidemux.appimage I ever tried.

I dislike the fluffy GUI effect of any info or new window visibly "popping out" - that is quite annoying, sadly in LosslessCut-linux-3.30.0.AppImage settings I see no setting where that GUI visibly "popping out" can be disabled.

Maybe it is in one of the setup files and would need AppImage extraction and new creation.

M. Eerie - do you by chance know about settings controlling LosslessCut visibly "popping out" GUI effect?

Did you use --no-sandbox? I had to.

What do you mean with "fluffy GUI effects"? Which ones? I'm asking because I've really no idea.

Here's another app https://www.electronjs.org/apps/iptvnator I've been using it for a couple of days and works fine. I did have to change the HTML5 player and use the other one. And here's an IPTV list, so you can try it https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv :)

No, just ran it normally.
Do you use Port 5.0rc2 like I do?

Now that is weird.
I used ./LosslessCut-linux-3.30.0.AppImage first on the 16th making some video edits. And 2 days ago it displayed the "fluffy GUI effects" - a new info box in LosslessCut-linux-3.30.0.AppImage rocked slightly like a camera would rock on a small moving boat. As in: tilting to one side, then tilting to the other and then staying stable without any tilt.

Now I ran it again - once from a guest xterm via

Code: Select all

./LosslessCut-linux-3.30.0.AppImage
and once by double clicking on it in Thunar -
and in both cases the GUI effect I described as fluffy is no longer there.
Cheers!

I didn't face this behavior. :unknown:

Works fine for me. And I like to keep an eye to the last output of the ffmpeg command, which I find very instructive.

This way I can use it as a testing/learning bench.

It stopped while testing for that behavior, and then later while using it it was back again.

I try getting my rusty skills with recordmydesktop to come to life - but I not ran it under 5.0rc2. Might end with sigfault like all GIMP did.

Where do you see the last output of the ffmpeg command in the GUI?
Even with Advanced View enabled I see no such info, or option to view such info.

Thanks. :friends:

Update on recordmydesktop:
The CLI version works like a charm:

Code: Select all

$ recordmydesktop
Initial recording window is set to:
X:0 Y:0 Width:1920 Height:1080
Adjusted recording window is set to:
X:0 Y:4 Width:1920 Height:1072
Your window manager appears to be Xfwm4

Detected compositing window manager.
Reverting to full screen capture at every frame.
To disable this check run with --no-wm-check
(though that is not advised, since it will probably produce faulty results).
:celebrate3:
(I never ever used the QT GUI version, so could be that it also failed in 5.0rc1, or maybe it did not. In 5.0rc2 it fails, but I always use the CLI version anyway, so the QT failure not bothers me)
Cheers!

M. Eerie , I finally created the annoying GUI effects videos with recordmydesktop, and cut with LosslessCut:
LosslessCut-GUI-wobble.ogv (374.67 kB)
LosslessCut-GUI-Popout.ogv (183.12 kB)

Since filehorst speaks German, a short HOWTO download and translation:

To get it, first wait 15 seconds "Dein Download wird jetzt vorbereitet." (Your download is being prepared)
Then click "Jetzt zur Download-Seite" (now to the download page)
Then click "Dein Download steht nun bereit. Klicke hier, um ihn zu starten." (Your download is ready. Click here to start downloading it)
Cheers!

I've recently discovered some handy information about AppImages at Reddit.

Also (although I'm not into games arena), there's 0 A.D. and Flightgear official Appimage directly from source.

921 MB and 117 MB... :)
