LosslessCut 3.53.0 with quite some improvements.
get it like so:

Code: Select all

wget -c "https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut/releases/latest/download/LosslessCut-linux-x86_64.AppImage" -O LosslessCut-linux-x86_64-3.53.0.AppImage
chmod a+rx LosslessCut-linux-x86_64-3.53.0.AppImage

The controversial Dezor browser is now also available as an Appimage

Info in English:
https://www.neowin.net/software/dezor-b ... no-frills/

Info in German:
https://www.chip.de/downloads/Dezor-Bro ... 04450.html

Download Appimage:
https://www.dezor.net/#download

I noticed when using it: DNS leakage and WebRTC IP leakage !!
(Test with https://browserleaks.com/)

The controversial Dezor browser
Well in my case it won't even run :)

Code: Select all

# ./Dezor-v1.2.9-x86_64.AppImage --no-sandbox

Or, but it still left some MBs under ~/.config -- so need to clean manually my changes folder

added an updated link for the gimp appimages: https://github.com/ivan-hc/GIMP-appimag ... continuous
the old one had stopped updating some time ago.
also added: https://software.manjaro.org/appimages to the 'AppImages Download Sites' list
it's a pretty basic a-z page with no categories, but seems quite extensive..

It seems to not list the appimags itself?

I looked one up: https://software.manjaro.org/appimage/a ... Tool-Libre
And there is only the link to https://github.com -> https://github.com/aphototool/A-Photo-T ... e/releases
browsing that gives https://github.com/aphototool/A-Photo-T ... 4.AppImage

Added in 5 minutes 18 seconds:
Has anyone experience with these:

https://software.manjaro.org/appimage/A ... mageUpdate
AppImageUpdate updates AppImages based on the update information embedded in AppImages.
https://software.manjaro.org/appimage/p ... pimagepool
Simple AppImageHub Client Top Features: FLOSS and non profit app Simple categories Download from github directly, no extra-server involved Upgrade and Downgrade appimages easily Version History and multi download support Fast downloader Note : Some features are not implemented yet.
https://software.manjaro.org/appimage/a ... app-outlet
An Universal linux app store
Cheers!

@Rava :-

I've been using AppImages for years. I was probably one of the early adopters, some 7 or 8 years ago when they began to appear in general circulation.

Normally, you just set them to executable, then click on them to fire 'em up.However, doing that in Porteus 5.0 KDE simply brings up a window asking what application you want to use to open them with.....which is NOT how they're supposed to work. You CAN run them from the terminal, though... :%)

Try:
Dolphin>(hamburger menu) >Configure >Configure Dolphin >General >Confirmations >"When opening executable file" >change dropdown from "Always ask" to "Run script" > Apply

Found an interesting article tree called exec packages for linux (appimage, snap, flatpak) on the https://forum.palemoon.org
The most interesting part of that thread is: some folks claim the GPL forbids you using GPL licenced parts and mix these with non-free parts creating an app image, while others disagree on that; or that by re-licensing all under the GPL when parts have not been GPL by the original creator you are breaking licenses. I am by far no expert on such legal matters but maybe some of you are interested in the arguments hence my above link for your convenience.
Cheers!

Just as heads up, I like that security feature of LosslessCut very much:
root@rava:/mnt/sdb3/video/DVD_edit# /mybin/LosslessCut-linux-x86_64-3.56.0.AppImage youtv/2017-06-21_test_hd.mp4
[1007/062141.645202:FATAL:electron_main_delegate.cc(294)] Running as root without --no-sandbox is not supported. See https://crbug.com/638180.
Trace/breakpoint trap
