How To Identify A Troll

Post#1 by donald » 03 Apr 2016, 23:40

a) They rarely add anything of value.

b) You cannot reason with the troll.
The Troll is narcistic and has only randomness, misinformation and half-truths.
It is the half-truth’s that baits you into reaction.
They use speech and words that trigger emotions.

c) You will notice a pattern within their speech. Observe their post patterns in their history.
Do they look similar in speech?

d) They will dismiss anything and everything you have to say, even if you speak truth.

e) They will dismiss facts, only pick out what comes handy.

f) They will put words in your mouth, things you did not say, to make it look like you said it and focus on what you did not say.

g) They don’t even read some of the posts, and post on a subject entirely different than the one you may have originally posted.

h) If they read the posts, they will look for anything to turn the post against you, yes even small mistakes.

What is the goal of the Troll?
To win the argument through any means necessary.
It does not matter if you are being truthful to the troll, if you get angry or mad, you lose.
This will raise his ego into new heights.
To respond to the troll, is actually to feed them attention.

Don't fall into this Trap.

A troll is someone...

...that should say the last post to a mirror.
...that thinks trolling is a tutorial.

This thread is off topic. It is NOT a tutorial. It is NOT being moderated. It is being condoned by the maintainers.

Post is considered a tutorial. It clearly lays out what a troll is, and how to identify one in the same way you might write a tutorial on how to identify your raspberry pi by the characteristics of the motherboard. In any case, thread locked before it too turns into a schoolyard brawl. :wall:

As stated before, I have little time to moderate petty squabbles. I will deal with it deftly and harshly and move on to more important things.
How do i become super user?
Wear your underpants on the outside and put on a cape.
