Dear Ahau - because I presume you are the one guy who will help us with this topic ;-)

By considering I was never able to write in chine on my previous V2.0 I hope it will be solved now on the V2.1 (I will install soon).

Then as I will install the V2.1 in english (or perhaps french) how must we finally be able to write chinese on this other default language installation ?
It means what must we do step by step to finally be able to get scim working ?
A perfect How To guide could help everybody. Thanks for your work on it.

Sincerely thanks for your help and have a nice day,

Miguipda ;-)

hi, miguipda,
Two modules are necessary to show and type zh-characters:
* scim (-in repo)
* a locale (I tried the locales in repo but failed. I use a locale .xzm built in v1.1 using 'language-select-tool', and it
still works very well in v2.1)
more if you need fonts. Put them in 'modules' and done.

scim config : deactivate all other languages, then mark simplified-chinese and us-english
use all others as default, e.g. the ctrl-space to activate input, etc.
press 'apply'
right click the 'keyboard' icon, choose an input method, e.g. pinyin
thats all.

I used to use 'fcitx' to type zh-chars, but in v2.1 my original .xzm did not work anymore. Our dear Ahau made one for me, but
not well configured. Scim is good enough for all purposes. I can type in LibroO, Gimp, and all other applications. I use 32bit xfce, and tried in all other 3 environments.

Hope these may help. If you need the locale, and fonts, I can send them to you via email.
