You should include what systemd you are running that has the obsolete egrep in your title.

Porteux ISO's system's cfg file is in /boot/syslinux/ not /home/boot/syslinux

OK dude, not every instruction does it, this is not true!
The simplest way to do that is copying the ISO content to your media
storage and running the installer, which will just make the media
bootable (instructions below), not touching or removing your existing data.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
| From Linux: |
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Navigate into the /boot folder that you have just copied.
2) From the terminal, run 'porteux-installer-for-linux.run' and follow
the instructions.
I finally had to do the mix/alchemy, again in "/porteus/base/*xzm", for running the bluetooth!

This is true but "media storage" refers to the drive you intend to boot not your porteux /home/ folder (even if that's what you want to do).

It doesn't work on any partition (sdb4/xfs - sda3/ext4) or any type of file. This so-called GUI-less installation is a whim as absurd as the supposed theory of evolution; as if it were a "unique and unrepeatable event".

This is COMPLETELY FALSE, because a year ago I installed it perfectly and the disk was exactly the same

Only 'dos' or 'msdos' partition table is supported.
Format your storage media using partition table 'dos' or 'msdos' and try again.

Obviously they are not.

Please post the output of a "ls -honR /media/hitachi2/" command for your drive.
A GParted window image of it would be useful also.
For me, and my Windows 11 EFI machine, I use the steps in this script:
Code: Select all
## Run GParted to partition & format the USB drive with a msdos Partition table. ##
## Use GParted's View > Device Information to check Partition Table type. ##
## Use GParted's Device > Create Partition Table if Partition Table shows as GPT.##
## Or under Windows use: ##
## > diskpart * Run Command Prompt with Admin Rights. ##
## > list disk ##
## > .... * Note the disk nbr of the USB drive ##
## > select disk x * X is the nbr of the USB drive ##
## > clean all ##
## > create partition primary ##
## > format fs=fat32 quick label="Porteus" ##
## > exit ##
## > In File Explorer dbl click on the ISO file and ##
## > copy all folders/files to the USB drive. ##
# EFI & boot folders must be on the same partition, porteus folder can be elsewhere.

Hello, World!... OK OK, If I can install Porteus anywhere using the GUI and without changing the partition table, why on earth would I do it with its Porteux variant?

Are you saying the install problems you are reporting are the result of you using Porteux install GUI?

Interesting! I've never run the Install APP. It looks impressive.

I've always just done the steps manually or with my bash script, which you're welcome to try.
As for the Install App, try copying the Porteus /opt/porteus-scripts/pinstaller file over to a Porteux /home/guest/ folder and running it on Porteux and see how it works. Depending on your copying method you may need to make the file executable again before running it.
Added in 34 minutes 32 seconds:
An edit on the script maybe needed. sed -i "s/orteus/orteux/g" /home/guest/pinstaller
