||PorteuX 0.5 no sound

Post#1 by lakesidepark » 02 Aug 2023, 16:50

Hello I installed the new PoeteuX 0.5 KDE in my computer, all hardwares recognized but no sound.

I checked the /usr/share/alsa/ucm2 and in there have the folder that correspond to my driver chtmax98090 and inside this folder has the files Hifi.conf and chtmax98080.conf

Also I checked the foler /usr/share/alsa/ucm2/codecs and there have all files: EnableSeq.conf, Headphones.conf, HeadsetMic.conf, InternalMic.conf and Speaker.conf.

After seach in Google I go to /usr/share/alsa/pcm/ and dive a cat in default.conf and there is no seted audio driver

But in Configuration -> audio is empty

How can I activate the audio.

I runned dmesg | egrep

Code: Select all

 dmesg | egrep -i 'sound|fail|error|warn|found|audio|snd|realteck|firmware|ucm|pcm|alsa|codec|chtmax'

Your grep output gives many unrelated messages, e.g. about found USB hardware (I presume your sound hardware is not via USB) or wifi hardware (I presume your wifi and sound hardware are not related)
Still, this seems to be the issue:

Are the conf the vanilla version of PorteuX 0.5?

Seems PorteuX 0.5 fails to initialize its default way of handling your hardware. (It then should have made some fallback, but some drivers are blacklisted by default because they are known to interfere with other drivers)

But i could not tell you how to instruct PorteuX 0.5 to use a certain driver from the get-go. Have you looked into if and where your driver might be blacklisted by default?

Hopefully others can give you the heads up on that.
Cheers!
Yours Rava

@lakesidepark, could you try this kernel? Don't forget to also copy vmlinuz to your PorteuX storage media /boot/syslinux/
