Could you describe your scenario a bit better?

1- Stable or current?
2- Which desktop environment (I suspect it's Cinnamon)?
3- Are you saying that Etcher shortcut doesn't appear in the main application menu?
4- What if you try to manually execute it at /opt/etcher?

I can't replicate this issue using Xfce. I tested inside VirtualBox logging in as root. Etcher shortcut appears in the application menu inside Accessories. Of course it doesn't run using the shortcut because of the root session (not recommended).

Could you try in Always Fresh and guest user?

coincidentally i also tried balena etcher a few days ago, i don't remember on which distro (i think always on nemesis), and it didn't work.
I had downloaded the appimage from their site.
Eventually I got bored with it and used ventoy, which isn't exactly the same thing, but it worked.

To do that, download the AppImage here: https://github.com/ivan-hc/GIMP-appimage/releases

Before running, make sure you have this folder (even empty is fine): /usr/lib/locale

Thanks Porteux,
Gimp works and I can also update the brave latest version.
