beny, Thanks. I think if there is really no OpenBox desktop, then I'll use LXDE -- it's the closest to OpenBox (just a little layer on top of OpenBox?!)

I went wid the porteux-v0.3-kde-5.23.5-stable-x86_64.iso for testingโbooted it on test machine using your EFI System method.fulalas wrote: โ01 Mar 2023, 12:19I invite everyone to try PorteuX distro. It's inspired by Slax and Porteus but with heaps of improvements, including a nice app store where you can download not just browsers but also Steam, VirtualBox, Nvidia drivers, multilib lite, messengers, emulators, etc. Performance has been improved and many issues have been fixed.
It's also possible to use Porteus 5 desktop environments modules (compatibility module is required and available on the Github page).

May try your suggestion about "Porteus 5 desktop environments modules" working since I prefer Cinnamonโtho KDE is a must learn DE, IMHO.

Still in early testing (less than 10-min), but like Porteus 5.0 Cinnamon I couldn't get it to boot on a converted Chromebook that is running Fedora 38 Cinnamon SPIN right now. That durn converted Chromebook doesn't like most Linux OSes.

Impressive!!!

Used 16 GB SanDisk USBs for my testsโ33.00 MiB Fat32 & 14.29 GiB ext4 partitions, and then just copied appropriate folders to each partition. Edited the porteux.cfg INITRD /boot/syslinux/initrd.zst line by adding login=root to it โ and easily booted each time.fulalas wrote: โ01 Mar 2023, 12:19I invite everyone to try PorteuX distro. I've gone thru 4-5 different ISOs and have settled on the porteux-v0.3-gnome-44.0-current-x86_64 version โ wid Dash to Panel & ARC Menu extensions added was able to get the Cinnamon 'Feel' & look I like.

Some minor issues on all 3 DEs I tested (KDE, MATE & Gnome) but nothing major โ it's new so some issues are expected. Issues had mainly showed up after tinkering on my part.

Gotta love the App Store! Firefox & the NVIDIA driver 525.85.05 modules were easily installed 'n worked perfectly.

Missed 'n Porteus Screenshot app โ don't really care for the 'Take a Screenshot' (PrtSc) option which I accidentally discovered when searching for an app. Probably one available for installing, but I haven't got around to it yet.
Very impressive after just two days of testing!!!

Boot parms go on the Append line.
I boot with Cinnamon.

Yeah, it has always worked better for me on the INITRD lineโwid Porteus, i.e. seemed more steady 'n reliable.

OK โ Thanks, and I'll give that "009-porteus5-compatibility-stable.xzm and the cinnamon.xzm" a shot, since I really like the Cinnamon DE!

Don't forget to add
Add whatever other DEs you are testing to the noload= cheatcode to use Cinnamon with them.
Another cheatcode I like to use is reboot=cold.
I've never had a problem with the Append line in a porteus.cfg file.

It should work without downloading gtk+3.
Could guys test it and report your impressions? Thanks!
EDIT: and here is the module for current: https://we.tl/t-K4blZOIQlF

Wow! There seems to be a big porteus party here. Would porteux be to porteus, what slax-remix was to slax?
