My Acer Laptop has a Webcam but what modules do I need to install to make it work? I'm running Porteus MATE v5.0rc3 and kernel v5.12.14.

This is the first time having one so I'm not sure.

I did not need to use any additional module for a video conference in browser to work.

But… my default browser (Palemoon) lacks some needed functionality, I used ungoogled-chrome instead, and using ungoogled-chrome as 2nd browser all things video conference worked out of the box.

System 5.0rc3 with XFCE 4.12
Might vary when you use a different DE…

hi jack, gnome webcam software is cheese, you can try if work in mate, if you try it:

How to get your camera working:
To get your camera working with cheese, you will have to ensure that it works
with the Gstreamer Framework and Video4Linux2 (V4L2) or Video4Linux (V4L). To
test this, you can use the 'gstreamer-properties' tool. too much deps to install not useful for mate
