STARTING KDE:HUB & DONGLE ATTACHED TO LAPTOP.

Post#1 by portypit » 11 Aug 2021, 18:11

KDE works quite well for what I want it to do. I have a hub connected to my laptop when the computer boots up. There is a Rapoo dongle plugged into the hub to operate my Bluetooth mouse.

Sometimes, the Keyboard Layout changes back from "gb" to "us" when I connect a USB flash drive to the hub!
This doesn't happen when I connect a flash drive to any USB port on my laptop. I suspect the dongle is causing the trouble.

When KDE starts, the default Keyboard Layout is "us".
But I added "kmap=gb" to porteus/porteus-v4.0-x86_64.cfg so that this will change the Keyboard Layout during boot-up; works fine.

KDE has a "Keyboard Hardware and Layout" dialog box.
This can be used to change the Layout to "gb", for example.
I shouldn't have to use this dialog box whenever plugging a flash drive into the hub causes Keyboard Layout = "us".

How do I change the default Keyboard Layout from "us" to "gb" in KDE?
