Ed_P, it does not matter, coz:
Code: Select all
# ls /var/lib/pkgtools/packages/*packagekit*
/var/lib/pkgtools/packages/libpackagekit-glib-1.2.0-alt1.x86_64

Ok, but this does.
Code: Select all
guest@porteus:~$ ls /var/lib/pkgtools/packages/*packagekit*
/var/lib/pkgtools/packages/libpackagekit-glib-1.2.0-alt1.i586
guest@porteus:~$ simple-scan
simple-scan: error while loading shared libraries: libpackagekit-glib2.so.18: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
guest@porteus:~$
Wrong libpackagekit file in Cinnamon x86_64 iso?

1) In AF mode is the same?
2) Do you use i586?
3) Did you try
07-printing-x86_64-2020-09-15.xzm?

No, I use x86_64. Porteus-CINNAMON-v5.0rc2-x86_64-20200920.iso
And it's not in the iso's 001-core file.
Code: Select all
guest@porteus:~$ ls /home/guest/Downloads/001-core/var/lib/pkgtools/packages/*packagekit*
/bin/ls: cannot access '/home/guest/Downloads/001-core/var/lib/pkgtools/packages/*packagekit*': No such file or directory
guest@porteus:~$ ls /home/guest/Downloads/001-core/
bin/ etc/ lib/ media/ opt/ root/ sbin/ sys/ usr/
dev/ home/ lib64/ mnt/ proc/ run/ srv/ tmp/ var/
guest@porteus:~$

I have not tried AF mode or the print module you suggested. I use 07-printing-x86_64-2020-08-10.xzm. I will try both suggestions and get back to you later. I've gotta watch my Buffalo Bills game.
Thank you for your help.

So simple-scan works now, no more missing packagekit file but the app isn't scanning the page on my HP printer's glass it is scanning my image via my notebook's webcam!!

How do I get it to use the HP printer's scanner??
Added in 11 minutes 4 seconds:
None of the options I tried worked. All returned "
Failed to scan Unable to connect to scanner" windows when I clicked on the Scan button.

Ed_P, well, you are right with
Code: Select all
# lsxzm 07-printing-x86_64-2020-08-10.xzm | grep packagekit
/usr/lib/libpackagekit-glib2.so.18
/usr/lib/libpackagekit-glib2.so.18.1.3
/var/lib/pkgtools/packages/libpackagekit-glib-1.2.0-alt1.i586
this is my mistake.
CANON Canoscan LIDE300 [2995c010] works for me fine.

I like your scan image.
Did simple-scan find your scanner automatically or did you use an argument with it or Manage Printer or ...

Menu>Graphics>Simple Scan works with my printer's scanner in 4.0.
