is there a way to get nighly builds of Wexond?
https://github.com/wexond/desktop-nightly/releases or more directly(vers.5.0.0-nightly): https://github.com/wexond/desktop-night ... 1.AppImage
another option, if you wanted a module, would be to use the .deb that they supply..(tested: works) appimage:76mb converted-deb-module:67mb
although a closer look, shows the deb has a bunch of it's own libs(all in /opt ..) .. these might be able to be removed, but most likely need to be symlinked to the system ones..

Thanks for that. I download the deb module and see if I can minimise the Port module. Then again maybe wait till the finale version is out.
But these are beta versions, not even rc versions, so it could take a while till they start with rc.

One issue I had with the 4.0.0-beta3.AppImage:
I could not save even one single file, e.g. not a single JPEG or PNG. Do you happen to make the same experience?
I looked up some Corona stuff and wanted to save some graphics, but to no avail. I needed to load each single page again in Palemoon to be able to save images.

Is that mentioned as being a known restrictions of the 4.0.0-beta3 version?
Cheers!

Code: Select all

# deb2xzm wexond-nightly_5.0.0-nightly.1_amd64.deb
Checking required libraries ...

gzip: data.tar.gz: No space left on device
EXIT="OK"
The wexond-nightly_5.0.0-nightly.1_amd64.deb is on a Linux partition that has 1647 MB free. The / aka /tmp filesystem has 310 MB free.

Is it an issue of free disk space? Or it could be I am missing some files.
Trying to open the dep with mc gave me this error window:

Code: Select all

  sh: dpkg: command not found
sh: dpkg-deb: command not found
sh: dpkg-deb: command not found
Is dpkg and dpkg-deb needed for deb2xzm ?
Cheers!

i think you'll find they go: nightly, then beta, then (stable)release, then minor releases, while simultaneously releasing more nightlys and betas, much like firefox does..
actually, earlier when i fired up a previous version i had (2.* i think) it updated itself to 4.0.0-beta3(overwriting the original appimage)(would have to be in a user writable directory for to happen i suppose) so maybe the versioning is "non-standard"..

Is dpkg and dpkg-deb needed for deb2xzm ?
nope, only (some of) binutils ... mc has some debian specific builtins...

So I need to have binutils activated?

Since I not use a standard 5.0rc1 but more a 5.0rc1 pre-rc2 is there a newer binutils module?
Cheers!

should just work, which it looks like it is, until it has a space problem..
(we should split this conversation out of this topic since it's not about appimages any more)

Could be, but then again, when it is website specific why would it save just okay in Palemoon?

Anyhow, I managed to finally create the 4.0.0-beta4 using dpkg-deb -x (first I created and activated the dpkg module by converting dpkg-1.19.7-x86_64-1_slonly.txz ).
By removing all but 3 language pak files I slimmed wexond-nightly_5.0.0-nightly.1_amd64.xzm down to 57.83 MB (It still has all its libraries inside so it might be smaller if I go all manual on it trying to eliminate all unneeded libs)

Now I need to remember which files exactly I had issues saving prior and try the very same URLs with the beta4.
Cheers!
Yours Rava
