Entering/Exiting Terminal to GUI (KDE)

Post#1 by LDRCII » 22 Jan 2020, 03:53

I've been a user for a couple of years now, but the main thing keeping me from using Porteus as a main OS, is how many times I have to reboot.

Either the system hangs, or a program crashes plasmashell. I jump into terminal mode using Alt+f2, but when I switch back using Alt+f7 I get another terminal instead of my gui. On that terminal I get messages about the X server dying and when I type commands, it just jumps to the next line and does nothing. I typically open another terminal via Alt+f1 through 6 and just run init 3 or startx, but I feel like that just uses up computer resources and I hate having to open my windows all over again. Is there a simple way to jump into terminal without losing my session?

This looks rather like what see with Xubuntu (so XFCE) 18.04.3 ...
My hunch is that things are provoked by systemd/logind ...
:D
