Hello, and Happy Holidays to all the community, I am sorry to post an issue on holiday, hope I can get some help, thanks.
I tried to install Porteus on a Virtualbox HD Virtual Machine, following this tutorial:
http://www.porteus.org/tutorials/37-ins ... rd%20Drive
And I got:
Missing operating system
FATAL: INT18: BOOT FAILURE
This is what I did:
0.- VIRTUALBOX CONFIGURATION:
On Virtual Box 6.1 I created a Porteus Virtual Machine (VM) with these parameters:
Linux 2.6/3x/4x (64-bit) (I also tested Other Linux 64)
RAM 8192MB
Processors 4
Boot Order Optic, Hard Disk (I also tested Hardisk, Optic)
Acceleration: VT-x/AMD-V, Nested Pagination, PAE/NX, Paravirtualization KVM
Video Memory 128MB
Graphics Controller: VBoxSVGA
EFI Disabled (And also EFI enabled)
IDE Controller
Master Secondary Ide: (Optical Unit) Porteus-KDE-v5.0rc1-x86_64.iso
SATA Controller: Porteus.vdi
Audio Host PulseAudio
Audio Guest ICH AC97
I ran the Porteus VM
On Porteus-5.0 64bit Screen
1. Graphics Mode > It runs from the ISO on the VM CD
Porteus 5 runs fine
1.1 I ran Porteus Installer
1.2 I Created and partitioned the Virtualbox Disk in /dev/sda1 (50GB) ext4
1.3 I refreshed and mounted the partition
1.4 I selected the target drive (/dev/sda1) and clicked next
1.5 I marked
* I understand and accept the warning above
* Install the boot loader
Clicked Next
1.6 Got the terminal open, I clicked to the message ok and enter
1.7 I got the message "Installation finished successfully"
1.8 I Exited Porteus VM, removed Porteus ISO from the VM Virtual CD and ran the VM but I got:
Missing operating system
FATAL: INT18: BOOT FAILURE
2. If I try to Boot from the first hd it jumps again to the first option 1. Graphics Mode that boots the ISO from CD
3.- I Enter into PLoP Boot Manager
HDA Partition 1
Load Profile Data
MBR Check
MBR Is valid
Checking Autosector
Warning
No Valid Autosector Signature
Continue Boot? (Y/N) < If I type Y I get Black screen and no boot.
I checked with Dolphin, and Porteus files were copied to the VM Hard Disk, I see the directories boot lost+foud and porteus. Porteus.vdi has 850MB
I tried several times with different parameters and the same problem, I do not know what else to do. My objective is to have a Porteus workstation in a VM to run the standard Linux Graphics programs like GIMP, Inkscape, Krita and with Playonlinux/Wine to be able to run a couple a Windows programs that run fine in Playonlinux/Wine which I tested on another distro in a VM, but I would love to run them in Porteus KDE, it is simple, efficient, aesthetics and fast.
I appreciate a lot your help to make it run from Hard Disk persistently.
Thanks for your kind help
