  1. USM (Package Manager) - not bad to add ability for updates via Slackware-current mirrors
  2. Porteus Updater (Global and small updates)
  3. browser (Mozilla Firefox..., etc)
  4. libreoffice (scanning and printing)
  5. samba (CIFS file and print server for CIFS clients)
  6. AnyDesk or something as VNC server (remote access)
  7. CryptoPro CSP (this is a crypto provider necessary for working with an digital signature. Important thing in Russia -> Установка и настройка КриптоПро CSP в Porteus Linux )
  8. FTP server (vsftpd or ProFTPD)
  9. HTTP server (Nginx or Apache)
  10. Krita, Darktable, Gimp

kodi
gimp
vlc
shotcut
pitivi
fotoxx
photivo
kde-games for kde
gparted
Interesting find this Shotcut of yours. Will try to build :)

I think most of work is already done. I've been working almost 6 months now with this only distro on my pendrive and I only missed Balabolka because of RSVP and TTS features

Having WINE in a module is a heavy load...

Cheers!

As for the games, a port of neko's APorteus kpatience module would be much appreciated.

There has been a fork on xfce desktop off topic since page 3 or 4. These posts have been moved to Porteus-v4.0 bug reports
.

OK. Moved by fulalas.

Also on page two there should have been a fork for off topic since this was going into the direction of providing packages bundles for porteus 4.0
This should be remediated. Any mediator to do the job? :)

OK. Title of present thread changed and mission and goals splitted as another topic.

And so what about that bundle project?

I still don't understand the bundle concept. If someone wants or needs an app they use USM to find it and it pulls all the dependencies together. Is that a bundle? Is a browser with flash and java a bundle? Who maintains the monthly updates to it?

It seemed to me the concept was to develop "bundles" for every app in USM whether there was a need for them or not which I don't agree with.
The idea was that people would create bundles for the programs they use the most. These could then be shared with others, creating a repository of popular bundles. For example I use a screen recorder often so I would upload my bundle module.
This is what brokenman had in mind.

So is donald's xmahjong download considered a bundle?

Could be. I think that he has a bundle account. He could also show kodi. I do not know the mechanics of the bundle accounts given by brokenman.

Yep, I modified my kodi-17.6 module so it runs on porteus 4.0-x86_64-XFCE

But when it comes to test it, before providing it, that's where the cookie crumbles.
  • I only use XFCE, so it may (or may not) run in other DEs..who knows..
  • I have no use case for such kind of software. All i can say is kodi runs
and didn't crash while clicking around.
If it work in all aspects..I don't know.
  • There is an ongoing slackware/porteus packages update process..,will the module
    still work "next week"...who knows.
  • I see no request for kodi..
To sum it up, I think it's not good enough to be provided via "bundles".
