Mission, goals and mean: working toward a better porteus

  1. USM (Package Manager) - not bad to add ability for updates via Slackware-current mirrors
  2. Porteus Updater (Global and small updates)
  3. browser (Mozilla Firefox..., etc)
  4. libreoffice (scanning and printing)
  5. samba (CIFS file and print server for CIFS clients)
  6. AnyDesk or something as VNC server (remote access)
  7. CryptoPro CSP (this is a crypto provider necessary for working with an digital signature. Important thing in Russia -> Установка и настройка КриптоПро CSP в Porteus Linux )
  8. FTP server (vsftpd or ProFTPD)
  9. HTTP server (Nginx or Apache)
  10. Krita, Darktable, Gimp
  11. gparted (Graphical partition editor)

Interesting find this Shotcut of yours. Will try to build :)

I think most of work is already done. I've been working almost 6 months now with this only distro on my pendrive and I only missed Balabolka because of RSVP and TTS features

Having WINE in a module is a heavy load...

Cheers!

As for the games, a port of neko's APorteus kpatience module would be much appreciated.

Mission, goals and mean: working toward a better porteus

Post#38 by francois » 12 Jun 2018, 01:12

There has been a fork on xfce desktop off topic since page 3 or 4. These posts have been moved to Porteus-v4.0 bug reports
.

OK. Moved by fulalas.

Also on page two there should have been a fork for off topic since this was going into the direction of providing packages bundles for porteus 4.0
This should be remediated. Any mediator to do the job? :)

OK. Title of present thread changed and mission and goals splitted as another topic.

Excellent idea... :good:

And adding isomaster to all DE would be absolutely perfect.

USM Module Reserve: Bundle Contributions

I still don't understand the bundle concept. If someone wants or needs an app they use USM to find it and it pulls all the dependencies together. Is that a bundle? Is a browser with flash and java a bundle? Who maintains the monthly updates to it?

Bundles: working toward a better porteus

Post#45 by n0ctilucient » 01 Jul 2018, 06:01

For me... a bundle is a way to separate merged deps from packages.

:unknown: @ least that's how I approach it.

That way... if I remove a package it won't break
another package that uses the same deps.

An example of this is...
04-toolkit.xzm (fltk, tk, fox toolkit)
04-dep4toolkit.xzm (toolkit dependencies)

If I remove "FLTK"... the other toolkits remain functional.

Here's another example...
04-interpreter.xzm (tcl, python3)
04-dep4interpreter.xzm (interpreter dependencies)

If I remove "python3"... "tcl" remains functional.
