I just built a Mate v3.2.2 USB and I install all the above from v3.2.2.
1. When I run Vbox builder do I do it in
root or
guest because I'm not sure?
2. When I run Vbox builder can it be install a USB the same USB Mate 3.2.2 So it can be on one USB?
3. When I run Vbox builder can I use the setting it pick at setup? I know I have to pick a name and would

I will rebuild a Mate 3.2rc5 USB to be on the safe side. It been awhile since I did it or that.

hi jack do not use MC for this task,you need ti run script in console,check if you have in the rc.d directory,if i remeber well the virtualbox version can change without problems,but the check of kernel version is the key to open it
cd /etc/rc.d and sh rc.vboxdrv and start the driver build for the kernel that you run

you can start vbox builder as guest, it will ask for the root Pw.
2)
vbox builder does make a new vbox.xzm module. you can activate it whenever you like
as long as it is the same version of porteus.(kernel version)
3)
not sure what you mean..
hmmm....Do not confuse the vbox builder with the vm setup-gui.

hi jack but you have the virtualbox installed in /opt? and a directory in /etc and files in /etc/rc.d
you have also the crippled_sources.xzm with the devel.xzm, the first need to build the nvidia driver against the used kernel,so maybe need also in the virtualbox build try to use it when you build the module,it is strange that you do not have the script in /etc/rc.d

Here what I did I try to boot Mate 3.2.2 and about 5 min it booted up but I could not setup my WiFi.
I build a new Mate 3.2rc5. Here what I did.
1. I ran Vbox builder and it built this
VirtualBox-5.1.12-porteus-v3.2rc5-x86_64-1prt.xzm so I put it in the /porteus/modules/ then I reboot to activate it.
2 Then I ran Oracle VM VirtualBox and here I have a screen shot of it.
3. Did I go to far to install Windows 7 and it will only install the 32bit version I need the 64bit version there no choice for it.

i have build it, on the last version of porteus xfce4 64 bit and i have the windows 7 64 bit version available,but you are right i have checked the rc.vboxdrv in /etc/rc.d and do not exist

In my last post it upgraded VirtualBox-5.1.12-porteus-v3.2rc5-x86_64-1prt.xzm and it built the 64bit version but in the list you can only have the 32 bit version of Windows 7.
How can I make it run Windows 7 there no option to pick from to do it? There no option to even install it

Under the storage menu you need to add an ISO to virtualbox. Add a windows 7 ISO file and when you boot you should be presented with the installer. I don't have time tonight to make a video but there should be plenty of tutorials on the internet.

Can the Windows 7 ISO be on the USB that way it can read it or dose it install Windows 7? And why can't I use Windows 7 64bit?
UPDATE:
I found my Windows 7 32bit ISO's one was a Windows 7 Starter SP1 (32 Bit).iso and the other was Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (32 Bit).iso dated April 2014 so which should I use?
My question do I put the Windows 7 ISO in to the CD/DVD player/writer and is that how I use Virtualbox with Windows 7?

hi jack,make also the virtualbox guest addiction,no you have to install the windows 7 on the hard disk created in virtualbox,btw if you have a vdi of the system,like a friend that have virtualbox installed with windows 7 you can use it.

sda has Windows 7 64bit install and
sdb has Mate v3.2rc5 install. The only thing is my Windows 7 is 64bit. Will virtual box only work with Windows 7 32bit system?

I think for me it is better to power down Porteus Mate and restart my computer and run Windows 7. Less headaches for me and just for a few Windows programs.

the problem is you'll have to restart and boot win7, me i prefer to have everything inside linux. 8) i think it can fit in a 32g usb...
