Hello everyone,
I want to format my HP USB, 64 GB, but I can not find suitable tool to do it. I have tried to take help from ChatGPT and duck.ai. But I always get stuck at not finding mkfs in Porteus and Gparted, I can not use it(Gparted) properly due to lack of guidance, and it does not read/detect my USB.
I always use "Copy To RAM" mode to use Porteus, is this the reason that not all modules( and required libraries) are not being loaded properly?
Please tell me how do you guys format your USB completely, to the blank state, using Porteus OS?
Thank you in advance and have a nice time, best of luck!

Possibly. Try booting without it and running GParted. Another possibility you may need to upgrade your Porteus. What version are you running and what does menu>Admin>Porteus Settings Center>Porteus Updater show you when you click on it?softappweber wrote: ↑23 Feb 2025, 07:21I always use "Copy To RAM" mode to use Porteus, is this the reason that not all modules( and required libraries) are not being loaded properly?
As for running GParted, menu>Admin>GParted, using the small window on the right side of the tool bar scroll down, or up, to see the USB drive. Use GParted's View > Device Information to check Partition Table type. Then use GParted's Device > Create Partition Table if Partition Table shows as GPT.

most likely because you're not using the root user (type su in the terminal) (fyi mkfs in /sbin)
https://gparted.org/display-doc.php?nam ... ect-device
we'll need to know which part you're having a problem with.
well, that could be a problem.. can you mount and navigate it in the filemanager?
not likely.softappweber wrote: ↑23 Feb 2025, 07:21I always use "Copy To RAM" mode to use Porteus, is this the reason that not all modules( and required libraries) are not being loaded properly?

there is this if you want to try it: Gnome Disk Utility 3.38.0 which appears to still work(at least, it starts)
