Hi,
Recently I updated my VirtualBox from 5.x to 6.1.34, but when I tried to start Porteus VM created earlier for VirtualBox v5 I got this screen with kernel panic:
How could I have the issue fixed?

No problems over here for Porteus-XFCE-v5.0rc3-i586.iso under Xubuntu 22.04 with VirtualBox 6.1.35-151573. Recreate your guest. If that does not help then have a look at https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Community > Bugtracker and/or Test builds.

You could create a new guest and attach the "old" virtual disk(s) to it.
Or backup your guest disk(s), create a new guest and restore the disks in that new guest -- see the vboximg-mount section in the VB help. Or google for "virtual disk dump".
However if you still can boot your previous VB exporting your disk(s) contents and importing them in the new guest might be easier.

glestwid, did you find a solution to this issue? I ran into the same error on Porteus-LXQT-v5.0-x86_64. The solution, for me, was to increase the number of CPUs to at least 2.
