I get msgs saying job sent to printer and printing done. I see in
http://localhost:631/printers/? the name of the printer and under Jobs > Show Completed Jobs it shows the size and date&time the job completed. On the printer, I see nothing. No paper, no error msgs.
The printer works in Windows 11.
I believe this problem started when I installed the latest Porteus modules the end of last month.
My system:

Ed_P, did you tested printing with 07-printing-x86_64-2023-09-23.xzm and brother-mfcj4335dwpdrv-3.5.0-1.i386.xzm in AF mode?
Linux 6.6.11-porteus #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Jan 14 12:07:37 MSK 2024 x86_64 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1270 v6 @ 3.80GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Not recently. I thought it worked months ago when I got the new printer but a good idea to try. Thanks
Blaze.
Added in 15 hours 4 minutes 53 seconds:
In AF mode I have to add the printer and set a driver for it. The printer is a Brother MFC-J4335DW and the driver that was working is MFC-J4333DW - IPP Everywhere (color, 2-sided printing). In AF mode with the 2023-09-23 07-printing module I do not see that driver option. 2023-09-23 has:
Code: Select all
Brother MFC-6550MC - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.3.4 (en)
Brother MFC-8300 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.3.4 (en)
Brother MFC-9500 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.3.4 (en)
Brother MFC-9600 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.3.4 (en)

Thanks
beny. The printer is wired in to my network. The IP address is valid.

Brother printer
still not printing.

Even used the brother cupswrapper ppd file in /opt.
Unable to find any "cups" or "brother" hits in various /var/log/ files.
Fortunately printer works in Windows.

I once tried it with a brother too however I don't remember if I was able to get it to work (among other things I think I tried it with airprint).
However let me say something stupid (one of many), why don't you try the module in the version that worked? the nice thing about porteus is that somehow you can experiment by inserting and removing modules.
If your changes are permanent maybe you could create another modified boot entry
Edit:
yes I remembered correctly, once I must have been able to print, precisely I think with airprint, so in theory without any installed driver of brother

When I print with my brother printer in Windows I get this msg for 2 - 3 seconds before the printer starts to print.
I think CUPS needs to handle it for Porteus.
