msata 32gb SSD

Do I boot to UEFI or legacy? Right now I boot Porteus I have 2 partition sdb2 is fat32 boot system and sb1 is ext4 file sytem (Porteus). When I setup the msata 32gb SSD. I want 1 partition but not what format to use like fat32, NTFS or ext4. Then do I install Porteus-MATE-v5.1-alpha-x86_64.iso files on the msata 32gb SSD. Is that all I need to do? I have done this before.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

It depends on the hardware you're booting. And if it's new and uses UEFI you will need a small FAT32 partition to boot. On secondary drives l believe the format is more open to choice.

You refer to sdb2 and sdb1, what is on sda1? And how is the new ssd drive referred to; sdc1 or nvme0n2p1?

Personally, for Linux systems I use Linux filesystem. If you use Windows or you will be using it, set Windows filesystem. Thus install Windows in the first partition.

Then make some Linux partitions with the help of Ubuntu or Debian, thus installing a full Ubuntu system. Once the later has been set, I installed portraits on the Ubuntu partition and give some command thru grub2 to boot porteus cd version as tome advocated.

So begin with NTFS partition minimal for Windows.

If you do not use Windows, I would say that ext4 would be the way to go.

Thank you for the link.

I'm only to use Linux on the msata 32gb SSD. I will not have Windows or any other OS on that SSD. I will set up that SSD the same way I set up my USB and it been setup that way since Aug 2013 and it been running great. What I like to do is when it boot up is pick Graphics mode but when save all changes is another place to put save changes.

I find more easy to setup a new HDD with xcfe Ubuntu, even though I do not use it. It's a very simple installation. Also, once and a while, it could be useful for softwares that are not available on Slackware (porteus) or Arch (nemesis).

But you seem to know where you are going. Give us your partition scheme. That will be interesting.
