NEW: isos, modules 2021
jack, I tried it once longtime back. It booted perfectly, though I had problem with a damaged laptop screen. I didn't repair the screen as service man said it will cost 75% of original laptop price. So can't run it again.
ncmp, I noticed then , system mounts like sys, dev, pts and proc were showing off in file manger. Normally they will be visible in root mode.
"guest" as user I think is acting as 'root',on some occasions, may be due to permission issues in some folders or polkit rules. I suspect because pcmanfm(guest) is writing files to /lib, folder. Once this defect is traced, we may not see system mount devices in pcmanfm.
suggestions requested: How to specify grub and xorg to use secondary vga or hdmi screen as screen0(primary)?.
Thanks

I install on a USB and I use Porteus-installer-for-Linux.com to make the USB bootable and the error start right after it start to boot up on both LXDE and XFCE this is the first time I ever seen this happen.ncmprhnsbl wrote: ↑26 Sep 2021, 05:36how are you booting the iso?
as a burned cd or as an iso file or?
at what point in the booting does 'a lot of errors' occur?
before or after the boot menu?
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

Well I just got a brand new 32gb thumb drive and took gparted and set it up like I do all the time. When it booted up I receive the same error so it wasn't the USB. I guest I'm not much help or very little. If I didn't like Porteus or Nemesis I would have all ready left. Just because I have 1612 message don't mean I know how, what happen 3 years ago with that stroke or the mild heart attact that I didn't even know I had tell Doctor told me.

hi and work :[porteus guest]# uname -a
Linux porteus.homenet.telecomitalia.it 5.12.18-porteus #1 SMP Tue Jul 20 08:40:52 UTC 2021 x86_64 GNU/Linux
the issue if there is one is the time from the end of boot and the desktop environment too slow, maybe you have load your module mate on, try the standard before.

I just found out about 30 min ago the only way it boot up is Always Fresh all the rest gets the error message that I posted. So the problem is in 001-core, 002-gui or 002-xtra I think.

I don't have any Mate for Nemesis because I lost my copy. The only stock copy Nemesis is LXDE or XFCE and they are the latest release copy.beny wrote: ↑27 Sep 2021, 19:08hi and work :[porteus guest]# uname -a

This is for jack, looking for "firmware",for very old broadcom wifi .
https://www.mediafire.com/file/g5nhd4pi ... a.xzm/file
Place this module in nemisis modules folder and start.
hope you may be lucky to have your wifi in any kernel version-arch based.
If it works, unpack module and move lib folder, from /usr to /, and try in porteus-5.0rc3.

NEW: isos, modules 2021
2021-10-06 .. base modules updated: see first post ..ISOs NOT updated.
notes:
packages updated as of 2021-10-06.
added tracker3(gtk3 dep) to xfce and lxde
added btop to core ...because why not?
mirrorlists set to frozen archive repos set at 2021-10-06
new command: mirrorlist-toggle : that toggles between archive repos and rolling repos . (use inxi -r to check what is in use)
(be sure to deactivate pm-conf.xzm if you have it or if using changes: cp -a /mnt/live/memory/images/001-core.xzm/etc/pacman.d{mirrorlist,mirrorlist-arch,mirrorlist.bak,mirrorlist-arch.bak} /etc/pacman.d/
new command: whichmod : helpful to find which module a package is installed in..
new command: upbase : M.Eerie's script to upgrade the base modules (edited slightly to add lxde module)
.. i haven't tested it, use at own risk, backup first (will also need to use rolling mirrors or at least set the date in the archive mirrorlists)
some minor fixes to pman: to handle *pkg.tar.zst.sig files properly. (future: will look at a major rewrite or new script that doesn't install to live system(or changes) when making modules)
tweaked activate/deactivate scripts to cleanup message dialogs: don't show error codes on success and only show relevant error codes for deactivate. (and fixed not appearing for guest)
fixed default locale(en_US.UTF-8) not set properly..
general reminder(for me too): use inxi -v 4 to get general system info when reporting problems..

Code: Select all
Options: -h --help : show this usage.
-u --upgradable : show all upgradable pkgs
and module they're in.
Note: do setup-pman or pacman -Syy first.
See which module a package is in if any..
eg. whichmod <packagename>
or: whichmod <file with list of packages>
