for anybody curious about what wayland is all about (basicly it is the future replacement for xorg), here is an example module showing some of what it(or more correctly: a wayland compositor) can do
https://wayfire.org/
Wayfire is a wayland compositor based on wlroots. It aims to create a customizable, extendable and lightweight environment without sacrificing its appearance.
and does most of what compiz does( wobbly windows, desktop cube, windows bursting into flames and so on)
